TE-CO CMM fixture plates can be mounted to the surface plate of your CMM by using step blocks and toe clamps or by drilling mounting holes into the plate which correspond to the inserts in your surface plate.
Offering our aluminum fixture plates with a 1/4-20 tapped hole has allowed us to go from a hole spacing on 1" centers to a hole spacing on 1/2" centers. This reduces the need for using adjustable components since more holes increases the probability of standoffs and other rest pads aligning directly with your part.

Building Fixtures with TE-CO CMM Fixture Plates
The purpose of the fixture plate is to provide a staging area to build part fixtures. Basic 3-2-1 fixturing holds true for most CMM fixturing applications, although the clamping force required to fixture parts when inspecting with a CMM is significantly less than what is required for machining. First, use 3 points of rest to elevate your part (standoffs or pin rest pads work great). Second, place 2 side stops along either the x or y axis. If you used pin rest pads in the first step, these can count as your side stops for steps two and three. Third, place 1 other side stop in the opposite axis (x or y). The final step is to use light pressure clamping to secure the part in a fixed position. Our soft touch clamps are perfect for clamping in CMM fixturing applications.
