CNC Mill Machinist (1st or 2nd Shift)

JOB SUMMARY: 1ST or 2nd SHIFT CNC MILL MACHINIST

This role is for experienced candidates with CNC machining experience who can operate vertical and horizontal CNC mills to produce high-precision parts. (ON THE JOB TRAINING PROVIDED)

1st SHIFT HOURS: 6:00 A.M.-4:30 P.M. MONDAY – THURSDAY

2nd SHIFT HOURS: 4:15 P.M. – 2:45 A.M. MONDAY – THURSDAY (will train on 1st shift before transitioning to 2nd shift)

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Study blueprints and process documents to determine dimensions, and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations, and set up requirements.
  • Plan and set up machines for unattended, lights-out operations, ensuring tooling, programs, materials, and safety measures are in place for continuous and efficient machining
  • Select, fabricate, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines
  • Start and observe machine operation to ensure no malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining condition occurs and adjusts programs, tool and or work offsets as required.
  • Listen to machines during operation to detect sounds such as those made by dull cutting tools or excessive vibration and adjust machines to compensate for issues.
  • Maintain machines and remove and replace broken or worn machine tools using hand tools.
  • Enter commands or load control media into machine controllers to retrieve programmed instructions.
  • Measure dimensions of finished workpieces to ensure conformance to specifications using precision instruments.
  • Check to ensure that workpieces are properly lubricated and cooled during machine operation.
  • Confer with supervisors or programmers to resolve machine malfunctions or production errors or to obtain approval to continue production.
  • Lift workpieces to machines manually or with hoist or cranes.
  • Comply with safety standards and company policies.
  • Assist in setting production standards.
  • Accurately record time and piece counts.
  • Keep machine(s) and area clean and organized. Remove chips daily or as required.
  • Provide training to other machinists as needed.
  • Safeguard existing programs and save new programs with proper back-up.
  • Generate process documents as needed.
  • Request supplies as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or directed.
